*JOB SUMMARY:*
The essential job functions and responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:
Planning and providing top-quality instruction to 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students to include both high school and college-level coursework.
Collaborates with faculty, staff, administration, parents, and students for student success.
Prepares, instructs, and grades all class coursework.
Updates academic progress and assigning final grades.
Maintains regularly scheduled office hours to meet with students.
Coordinates, advises and facilitates one or more student clubs.
Assists high school students acquire study skills and self-discipline needed to complete their studies successfully.
Assists in the collection of student data.
Informs parents/guardians of student progress and seeking their assistance in meeting student needs *SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES:* * Assists high school students in meeting rigorous instructional standards at both the high school and college level.
* Coordinates and supervises learning activities.
Maintains a safe and effective classroom environment.
* Utilizes and applies the Florida Standards, Florida EOC Assessment Specifications, curriculum frameworks, college course objectives, and course student performance standards in planning effective instruction; * Utilizes all available data including achievement and assessment test results, progress tests, daily assignments, teacher observations, past performance and other available information to plan instruction and evaluate student performance; * Utilizes technology resources to bring depth, relevance, and excitement to the learning process; integrate technology into assignments; * Determines student grades and following established school procedures for reporting and recording them; * Provides appropriate accommodations for students as required by statute.
* Reinforces reading and writing skills throughout the curriculum; * Maintains a comprehensive plan for self-evaluation and improvement of instruction.
* Complies with all reporting deadlines.
Maintains accurate records, instructional plans and complete course outlines that reflect the Florida Standards; * Supports student interest, through extracurricular activities and sponsoring a club/organization.
* Collaborates and works with counselors, staffs.
teachers and college personnel when appropriate to develop plans which integrate opportunities for student success.
plans, designs and implements interdisciplinary lessons.
* Collaborates with the Indian River State College Dean/ department on implementing course standards and department policies for dual enrollment courses.
* Completes all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
*QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:* * Bachelor’s degree and Florida Department of Education Certification in Social Science (grades 6-12); * Master’s degree in the social sciences or Master’s degree with 18 graduate hours in social sciences preferred; * Ideal candidate will be an educator with additional degrees, certifications or credentials; * All instructors must meet the credentialing requirements set forth in IRSC’s credentialing manual and Florida Professional Certification; * Minimum of two (2) years of verifiable teaching experience and/or equivalent work experience; * Familiarity with cooperative learning and assessment techniques; * Knowledge of best practices in education for high schools; * Proven track record of effective teaching methods and procedures; * Willingness to apply technology and innovative approaches in the classroom setting; * Understanding of varied student learning needs; * Ability to establish and maintain a supportive student environment; * Committed to increasing student achievement through contextual and applied curriculum; * Expertise in current instructional strategies and teaching methods.
* Displaying an appropriate and supportive attitude towards students, colleagues, supervisors, and the community at large; * Requires occasional evening, weekend or other flexible scheduling of duties as specified by the Clark Advanced Learning Center’s Executive Director/Principal or designee; * Typical working hours for this position are: Monday through Friday from 7:30 am to 3:30 pm.
Some evening and weekend hours are required *PHYSICAL DEMANDS:* This position requires an ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time and to present verbal lectures/demonstrations, walk, bend, lift, reach up, stoop, and carry items occasionally in excess of twenty-five (25) pounds.
Some lifting of computer and electronic equipment may be required.
It also requires manual dexterity to operate standard office machines, such as, copier, fax, calculator, telephone, and other equipment as necessary.
IRSC expects its employees to follow proper safety standards while employed by the College.
Job Type: Full-time Pay: From $48,500.
