Job Summary
The Part-Time Intake Specialist, Adult Education responds to inquiries regarding Adult Education ESOL/GED class schedules and fees and meets with students to help ensure the effective operation of the Adult Education program.
This position works closely with Campus personnel to support student services.
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent from a regionally accredited institution; or Associate’s degree;
Computer Literate- computer keyboarding skills;
Customer service experience recommended.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Greeting and assisting the public via telephone and face-to-face in a friendly professional manner;
Taking telephone messages;
Scheduling clients for the CASAS/TABE Assessment and facilitation appointments;
Provides support to adjunct instructors with electronic attendance tracking;
Contact students with excessive absences;
Assists in maintaining department files and records following confidential information policies.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Answering multi-telephone lines and answering questions pertaining to the ESOL/GED program;
Maintaining Outlook calendars and scheduling new in-take facilitation appointments;
Making reminder calls to those who are scheduled to CASAS/TABE Test;
Inputting student applications, CASAS/TABE Scores, Student Data Summary Forms and special designators into the College’s registration system;
Assists students on registration, scheduling, holds and edits, transient student processes, student schedules, residency-for-tuition purposes, and program changes;
Filing, copying, and sorting mail;
Knowledge and understanding of college organization, goals and objectives, and policies and procedures;
Possess good customer service skills;
Possess superior ability to learn program deals;
Knowledge of class offerings in Adult Education Program;
Ability to follow oral and written instructions;
Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
Ability to project a positive image of the College and its programs;
Ability to work well in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment with students, faculty and staff;
Provides students with initial assistance on problems or questions about web admission;
Responsible for accurate processing of related admissions & registration records requests;
Completing other supervised tasks as assigned.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This position requires an ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, lift, reach up, stoop, and carry items occasionally in excess of twenty-five (25) pounds.
It also requires manual dexterity to operate standard office machines, such as, copier, fax, calculator, telephone, and other equipment as necessary.
