We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Development Coordinator to join our team.
Reporting to and in consultation with the Executive Director, the Development Coordinator is responsible for building and executing the development plan and coordinating support functions.
The Development Coordinator will spearhead development efforts as the Education Foundation of Martin County continues to grow.
Organization Background
Since 1991, the Education Foundation of Martin County has been fulfilling its mission to enrich and enhance educational opportunities and support for students and teachers in Martin County's public schools.
Identified as the strategic non-profit partner of the Martin County School District, the Education Foundation of Martin County (EFMC) is a 501(c)(3) community investment organization comprised of business leaders, community volunteers, and school officials.
The Foundation strives to increase community involvement and financial support of the educational process, encourage effective instruction, strengthen student motivation, promote academic achievement, and create initiatives that support dedicated and creative teachers; thus, supporting excellence in education!
As an independent group, the Foundation promotes this effort by raising and distributing private and corporate funds through a variety of award-winning programs.
These resources exceed the funding capabilities of the school board.
Development Coordinator
Responsibilities:
• Design, develop, implement, and lead the Education Foundation of Martin County’s annual fundraising plan in collaboration with the Executive Director
• Identify, cultivate, and steward donors and prospects to secure financial support from individuals, foundations, and corporations through diversified revenue streams – monthly giving, annual gifts, planned giving, major giving, sponsorships, end-of-year campaigns, events, etc.
• Build and maintain long-term relationships with donors and prospects by implementing strategies designed to advance major giving
• Write, edit, and oversee the preparation of all fundraising communications and solicitations including case statements, proposals, presentations, and reports
• Coordinate sponsorship recognition activities and deliverables for programs and events
• Monitor and report progress toward fundraising goals and key benchmarks
• Write grant proposals and provide follow up as needed
Required Skills
• Must be detail oriented, organized, and able to persuasively communicate, display personal initiative, exercise good judgment, and maintain high ethical standards and confidentiality.
• Proven ability to develop strategies to engage Board members in development activities and unlock Board members’ networks for fundraising purposes
• Demonstrated success with a variety of fundraising campaigns and activities
• Ability to act and think strategically and foster collaborative relationships
• Exceptional project management, facilitation, and presentation (verbal and written) skills
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, establish priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain flexibility in a small office environment
• Solid understanding of English language rules of composition and grammar with ability to assist in creation of written communications
• Knowledge of managing and posting information on internet/intranet websites including social media
• Proficient use of Microsoft Office – specifically Word and Excel
Qualifications
• Minimum of five successful years of non-profit development experience
• Demonstrated success in grant writing and management
• Experience raising and stewarding planned gifts preferred
• Must have dependable transportation and ability to travel to events, which may be in the early morning, evening, or on the weekend
• No criminal history and must be able to pass a background check
• This position does not offer the flexibility of working from home
